Directions to the Medical Campus

Public Transportaton to the Medical Center

The MBTA provides the following bus service to Boston University Medical Center:

Bus 1: Harvard Sq. to Dudley Sq. connecting Massachusetts Avenue Station (Orange Line) with BUMC. Buses travel along Massachusetts Avenue as far as Albany Street, then continue to Dudley Square. Service is provided every 10 minutes.

Bus 8: University of Massachusetts, Harbor Point Campus, to Kenmore Square via BUMC. It connects BUMC with the Orange Line at Ruggles Station and with the Green Line at Kenmore. Buses generally run every 20 minutes during peak hours. An abbreviated schedule is available on weekends and holidays.

Crosstown Buses: The express-like Crosstown bus 3 (CT3) runs from Logan Airport to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center via BUMC and Andrew Station on the Red Line. Crosstown bus 1 (CT1) runs from BUMC to Central Square in Cambridge. They run every 20 minutes during peak hours, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Bus 10: Copley Square (Green Line) to City Point, connecting Back Bay Station (Orange Line) and Andrew Station (Red Line) with BUMC. Buses provide service approximately every 20 minutes during peak hours, with added Saturday and Sunday service. An abbreviated schedule is available on weekends and holidays.
Bus 47: Service from Central Square, Cambridge (Red Line) to BUMC via Longwood Medical Area. Fenway (Green Line), Ruggles (Orange Line), and Dudley Square are accessible on this service. Buses run every 20 minutes during peak hours. An abbreviated schedule is available on weekends and holidays.

Bus 49: Service on Washington Street runs directly from Dudley Square to Downtown Crossing via Washington Street and provides service every 10 minutes during peak hours.

Getting to Boston University Medical Center

From North: Follow Routes 1 (via Mystic/ Tobin Bridge) or I-93 to Route 93 south. Take Exit 18 (Massachusetts Ave.).
At traffic light, take right onto access road; stay in right lane. At end of access road, turn right onto Massachusetts Ave. and then right on Albany Street.
From Logan Airport: Go through Sumner Tunnel (Route 1A South) to Expressway South. Take Exit 18 (Massachusetts Ave.). Follow directions above.

From South Shore: Take Expressway North (Route 93/3). Take Exit 17-18
(Massachusetts Ave.). Follow signs to Massachusetts Ave. Turn right on Massachusetts Ave. Take first right on to Albany Street.
From West: Take Route 90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) east to end. Take Expressway South (Route 93) to Exit 18 (Massachusetts Ave.). At traffic light, take right onto access road; stay in right lane. At end of access road, turn right onto Massachusetts Ave. Take first right on Albany Street.

Shuttle Bus Service: The BUMC operates several shuttle buses, including a Boston University Charles River Campus shuttle, a Boston VA Medical Center, Jamaica Plain shuttle, a Commonwealth Medical Group shuttle, shuttle services to the off-campus parking facility, and an all-day and evening Medical Center Campus shuttle.
