in
Mental Health &
Behavioral Medicine
The
Mental Health & Behavioral Medicine Program is a two-year full-time
experience, requiring a minimum of 60 credits:
- Required
courses 42 credits
- Practicum
& internship 18 credits
It will prepare counselors to practice as professionals at the Masters
level in a variety of health care delivery settings. The program curriculum
is consistent with the professional standards recommended by the American
Mental Health Counseling Association and is designed to meet the educational
requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts as granted by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental
Health and Human Service Professionals.
Application
The
requirements for admission to the MA in Mental Health and Behavioral
Medicine are the same as those for admission to the other MA in Medical
Sciences Programs, except that all students are required to have a
background in psychology. If psychology prerequisites are not fulfilled,
then the student will be required to take these courses before they
enter the Program, or the student may take these courses in the first
semester of matriculation.
