The Mental Health & Behavioral Medicine Program is a two-year full-time experience, requiring a minimum of 60 credits:

  • Required courses 42 credits
  • Practicum & internship 18 credits

It will prepare counselors to practice as professionals at the Masters level in a variety of health care delivery settings. The program curriculum is consistent with the professional standards recommended by the American Mental Health Counseling Association and is designed to meet the educational requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as granted by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Service Professionals.

Application

The requirements for admission to the MA in Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine are the same as those for admission to the other MA in Medical Sciences Programs, except that all students are required to have a background in psychology. If psychology prerequisites are not fulfilled, then the student will be required to take these courses before they enter the Program, or the student may take these courses in the first semester of matriculation.
