Doctor of Philosophy

 

 

Postbachelor's PhD candidates will complete at least 32 credits of didactic course work and 32 credits in dissertation directed laboratory research. It is anticipated that most candidates will require five years to fulfill these requirements. Required courses are:

GMS PH 700 Biostatistics 2 cr, on demand

GMS OB 761 Oral Microbiology 2 cr, 2nd sem.

GMS OB 763, 764 Basic Processes in Oral Biology 2 cr each, 1st sem and 2nd sem.

GMS OB 800 Advanced Oral Biology 4 cr, 1st sem.

GMS OB 805, 806 Oral Biology Seminar 2 cr each, 1st and 2nd sem.

GMS BI 755, 756 Biochemistry 4 cr each, 1st and 2nd sem.

Additional credits will be obtained from courses in biochemistry, biophysics, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, or other Division courses, with permission from the instructor.

Additional Requirements

Additional PhD degree requirements are described in "Academic Policies and Procedures" of this Bulletin and include successful completion of qualifying examinations, formation of a Dissertation Advisory Committee, and Thesis Defense Committee, participation in seminar programs, the final oral dissertation defense, and submission and approval of a written dissertation.
